Our Spring Newsletter!

Since the latest newsletter went out, I've been given the "ALL CLEAR" from the doctors, as the results from my surgery came back totally benign.  We are so thankful, a huge sigh of relief has gone out!  Thank you to everyone who prayed with us, encouraged us through this and checked in on a regular basis.  We appreciate it all and feel very loved.

Matt left for the journey back to Uganda yesterday, and will be back into the swing of things there again this week.  The kids and I have stayed in Canada a bit longer so they can finish out the school year here, and will head back to the Equator then.

Thank you for all your prayers and support!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

A very, Merry Christmas from our family to you and yours.  Please find below our latest newsletter and happenings.  Since our newsletter has gone to print, a new development in my health will require a few more tests and intervention and has delayed our return to Uganda by a few weeks.  Please keep us in your prayers as we navigate this and the upcoming transition!

The Guesthouse

I love our little guesthouse.  Not just the look of it, although if I have to say so - it’s pretty darned cute!  It's cozied up in the corner of the compound, right between the veggie garden and the coffee tree that hangs over the path.  It's needs cut back, but I can't bring myself to do it.  The sun comes in the front windows in the morning and the whole thing reminds me of a little fairy tale cottage.  But what I enjoy the most about having a spot in our garden where we can have people come and stay, is showing them a glimpse of life in Uganda, sometimes for the first time.

I love getting to know people from all  over the world.  I love hearing about other programmes and places, the happenings in South Sudan, Kenya, the UK or Australia.  So many nights are spent out on the porch, drinking tea, having a good laugh with everyone who comes through.  We’ve contemplated the installation of a zip line from the water tower to the trees across the driveway with with a guy visiting from Tanzania, player Beanboozled with company from MAF Canada and marched in a parade down Entebbe road with visitors from the UK.

It’s fun, its sometimes hilarious and I still, after nearly 4 years, get super excited when we have people coming through.  I’ve lost count of the numbers over time, but the steady stream of people doesn’t slow down, and it’s great to have friends, new and old, from all over the world!

So, if you ever find yourself passing through Kampala, you know you’re always welcome for a visit, a good laugh and a night in our little guesthouse in the garden.
